About Us

The Neurothentic Network CIC was founded in October 2024 by a team of Neurodivergent parents who know first-hand how overwhelming, isolating, and complex the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system can be. Born from lived experience, the organisation was created to offer the clarity, support, and community that so many families struggle to find.

At The Neurothentic Network CIC, we offer guidance, opportunities, and a supportive community for families seeking to connect with others and gain clarity and assistance in navigating SEND services. Our team is passionate about providing safe spaces for Neurodivergent children and enabling families to advocate for their children and access the services they need.

What makes us different

Why choose us

Accessible

Our goals are to provide guidance, opportunities, training and awareness to our community in accessible ways.

Neuro-affirming

We understand neurological differences such as Autism, ADHD and PDA as natural variations of the human brain, not problems to be fixed.

Lived experience

As Neurodivergent parents to neurodivergent children, we have navigated the complex SEND processes and we understand the challenges involved.

Our Team

Our team is a neuro-affirming group of parents, mentors, and facilitators who bring together lived experience, professional insight, and a genuine passion for supporting others. Every member of The Neurothentic Network understands the realities of navigating neurodivergence and the SEND system, and we’re committed to offering support with honesty, empathy, and heart.

Carleigh – Session Facilitator & Forest School Lead

I’m Carleigh 👋 I’m a late-diagnosed Autistic, PDA and ADHD human, and parent of two similarly wired small people. Autism first caught my interest at age 12 when I read “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” Flawed as it is, it sparked something that led to years of learning and working with Autistic young people throughout my teens and twenties.

Despite my professional background and training, I didn’t truly understand what it meant to be Autistic until my eldest son was diagnosed in 2020. I began learning from Autistic voices, and shortly after received my own diagnosis from Dr Wenn Lawson. Since then, several family members-including my second child-have also been diagnosed with Autism or ADHD.

My interest has grown into a passion for creating change through education, empowerment, and neuro-affirming spaces where young people can learn and thrive. My children, both “square pegs,” do not fit the rigid expectations of mainstream school, so I’ve had to unlearn typical approaches and gain extensive knowledge in low-demand parenting, SEND systems, EHCPs, EOTAS, and Home Education.

I understand the physical and emotional challenges of navigating these systems and hope to make services more accessible while creating safe, inclusive alternatives to school. If you need support with anything related to neurodivergence or education, feel free to get in touch-even if you just need someone who understands to talk things through with.

Michelle – Session Facilitator & Forest School Assistant

Hi there! I’m Michelle, an AuDHD, PDA adult. My neurodivergent journey began when my first child was diagnosed, prompting me to explore these differences more deeply. Since then, neurodivergence has become a passion-I’ve immersed myself in books and stories shared by neurodivergent voices. I’m committed to challenging stereotypes around autism and ADHD, breaking down ableist assumptions, and highlighting the true diversity of our experiences.

About a year ago, I connected with The Neurothentic Network through their social groups and Forest School sessions when my child struggled to access traditional school. I soon began volunteering, supporting their incredible work. You’ll now find me helping at groups like Stay and Play Your Way and Neurothentic Together, and I’m currently training alongside Carleigh to support our Forest School sessions. I’m excited to continue contributing to this community and making a positive impact.

Ashleigh – Session Facilitator

Ashleigh is a neurodivergent parent of neurodivergent children, just like the rest of us here. She brings lived experience, a deep understanding of SEND and neurodivergence, and professional expertise through social care and education qualifications. She also has years of experience supporting young people in various educational settings and has volunteered as a Foster Carer Assistant.

Ashleigh currently facilitates our Neurothentic Together sessions and supports our Neurothentic in Nature groups. She’s always ready to jump in wherever needed, with a big smile, an even bigger heart, and a love of a good chat. Outside of sessions, Ashleigh enjoys decorating her home in fabulous bright colours, building Lego flowers, and collecting tattoos.

Vicki – Emotional Support Mentor

Hi, Vicki here-mother to a spectacular 15-year-old who is Autistic (with a PDA presentation) and ADHD. After years of deep-dive self-education on behalf of my child, I finally reached my own diagnoses in my fifties: Autism, ADHD, and a rather generous helping of demand avoidance! Better late than never-Vix, always late to the party because I didn’t want to go.

Along the parenting journey, I had to do a lot of personal work to be the mother my child needed, on a path that looked nothing like the one I’d imagined after 39 years of planning “parenting perfection” (PFFT-cue the fourth cup of coffee!). In 2018, I trained and qualified as an experiential healer, and I have a deep passion for human understanding, supporting others in challenging parenting situations, and navigating the many relational difficulties that come with them. Helping others find greater ease and acceptance is deeply fulfilling.

I’ve nurtured my own Facebook parenting support group since 2018, and previously ran a 1-to-1 parental support business until removing my child from mainstream school to focus on their wellbeing. Now, I’m thrilled to be joining TNN to support other parents of ND children. Raising my child has been transformative, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I look forward to meeting you in our closed support group, Neurothentic Parents, where we’ll focus on emotional wellness and building the community we all need.

Racheal – Creative Wellbeing Facilitator

Hi all, I’m Racheal and at the beginning of my journey with The Neurothentic Network. You might know me from Neurothentic in Nature or from Neurodivergent Voices, the free community art project I run. I’m a neurodivergent parent of neurodivergent children with a passion for wellbeing, mental health, creativity, and helping people. I’ve done many different jobs throughout my life-from marketing manager to gardener-and I’m excited to bring that varied experience to TNN to support adults and carers navigating this often lonely path.

One of the most fulfilling things I’ve seen is someone blossoming when they begin to unmask and find their authentic self. I strongly believe creativity provides a powerful pathway to that freedom, and I’m passionate about keeping these opportunities accessible to all-money should never be a barrier. Keep an eye out for future creative and supportive activities with us.

I’m proud to be part of such a brilliant organisation and team. The work TNN does is incredibly important, and I’m delighted to contribute to it.

Charlie – EHCP Admin Support

Hi, I’m Charlie, and unlike most of The Neurothentic Network CIC team, I’m based down in Exeter in the South West. I’m a late-diagnosed autistic & ADHD mum to two beautiful neurodivergent teens- one now 18 and finishing their education journey, the other 16 and in a specialist post-16 provision. I have extensive experience in parenting, neurodivergence, education and SEND Law, completing my training with IPSEA. I’ve spent the past few years supporting families through the stressful and confusing EHCP process, having been through appeals myself more than once. Even with knowledge, navigating this system for your own children can feel impossible.

Before this work, I ran a parent-carer support group in Exeter, knowing how isolating the journey can be. Even when your children get support, it often feels like there’s nothing for you. That’s why I’m so thrilled to be part of The Neurothentic Network-I’m passionate about supporting families because I know how hard it is to access help and how lonely it can feel. When I’m not fighting Local Authorities, you’ll find me gaming, collecting things, forgetting my ADHD meds, chilling with my teens, petting my dog, reading romantasy, and obsessing over makeup!

Our Mission

Too many neurodivergent children and their families are misunderstood, unsupported or expected to change who they are in order to 'fit' in a world that isn't always set up for them. We know how that feels because we've lived it.

Our mission is rooted in understanding the unique challenges that families face when accessing support and suitable education provision. We believe that every child deserves to be understood and valued for who they are, and we are committed to removing barriers and creating environments where young people can feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

We are a fully Neurodivergent team and will always prioritise Neurodivergent voices.

Thank you for being a part of our community.

Please note: Whilst our lived experience of navigating these systems is complimented by IPSEA Level 3 training, we are not legal professionals and our support is based on personal experiences and legislation that is available to all. If we feel your situation is more complex and requires a legal advocate, we will refer you to one of our preferred professionals.
